We seek driven early-career engineers (MS or PhD) to help grow our Energy Practice analytical and computational competency.  The focus of this position is on riser systems and the floating offshore structures that host them. Candidate will possess or develop expertise in the areas of drilling, production, and intervention, and completion risers and their support.  This engineer may perform dynamic analysis, signal processing, structural calculations, and other analysis as needed to ensure or evaluate structural and fatigue performance of the systems of interest. A strong balance of technical, interpersonal, and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and/or provide input to analysis of systems of interest using fundamental techniques, basic mechanics, and state-of-the-art commercial/in-house software
  • Process and analyze dynamic field data associated with offshore riser systems, subsea structures, and associated components
  • Support Project Managers to meet project goals/deliverables and communication with clients
  • Assist in preparing proposals, presentations, and technical reports
  • Assist with internal R&D initiatives as needed
  • Stay informed regarding new technologies and improvements in industry to maintain proficiency
  • Adhere to internal quality management system policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Have an MS in Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related engineering discipline
  • At least 3 years of experience working as an analysis engineer, preferably in the field of offshore oil and gas
  • Strong academic background in mathematics, statistics, physics, and structural dynamics
  • Background and interest in computational modeling and simulation
  • Ability to balance engineering judgment with business priorities and constraints to deliver high-value work products
  • Ability to research and develop sound technical solutions and skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical problems to both people familiar with and people unfamiliar with the technical details
  • Ability to work independently but leverage input in complex problem solving
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments and priorities
  • Desire to solve real-world problems
  • Good people skills including effective listening skills
  • Willing and able to travel as needed (10% or less of time expected)

Desired

  • Expertise in design and development of sensors to assess riser and floating systems response
  • Experience with deploying real-time software and hardware solutions
  • Ability to process and analyze real-time measured riser and floating systems data
  • Experience working with and/or for major oil company(ies)
  • Expertise with riser analysis program(s)
  • Background and interest in structural dynamics
