We take on some of industry’s most difficult problems, utilizing approximately 275 employees, including 155 engineers across offices in Houston; Cincinnati; Waller, TX; and Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Plant Services Practice (PSP). PSP primarily serves the petrochemical and energy industries; but our engineers may also work in other related fields such as aerospace, defense, manufacturing, and material
processing. The successful applicant will work in multidisciplinary teams solving challenging problems including component design/analysis, integrity assessments, failure analysis, repair solutions and remediation.

 

This position is onsite.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate must have the desire to build a successful engineering practice in a dynamic, work environment. They must be a self-starter and primarily, work on
an individual basis with the ability to function well on project teams.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Review and apply API 579 Level 1, 2 and 3 assessments.
    Perform stress analysis and mechanical design of various components, including pressure vessels, piping systems and mechanical parts.
  • Use computational and classical methods to relate these analyses with instrumentation and strain gauge data.
  • Coordinate field visits to client sites and examine problems identified by the client.
  • Prepare and review technical reports/papers, proposals, and presentations.
  • Contribute to the growth of the company by participating in technical associations and code committees to establish industry credibility.
  • Prioritize the mentorship and development of engineers with less experience.
  • Develop opportunities to create partnerships and generate business in the following industries and practice areas: Refining, Chemical, Oil Sands, Pipeline, Plant Equipment, etc.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or 10 years of relevant plant experience in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as a practicing engineer.
  • Must be willing and able to travel on occasion and work in various environments.
  • Travel could be worldwide, and the applicant must have or be able to obtain a passport
    without restrictions.
  • Strong proficiency in FEA software such as Abaqus or ANSYS.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph. D in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Experience at a major oil company or consulting firm working in refineries or chemical
    plants is preferred.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) or possess the ability to become registered.
  • Knowledge and experience with API 510, 570, 579, 580 and 653, NACE, ASME Boiler and
    Pressure Vessel Codes; NDE methods.
