Stress Engineering is currently seeking a robotics engineering intern with mechanical engineering and controls expertise.

Responsibilities

The Engineering Intern will interact directly with project managers to assist with planning and completion of project/client work as assigned. As a Robotics Engineering Intern you will primarily be involved in projects involving robotics system algorithm development, hardware integration, programming and testing. Depending on SES’s needs, you may also be involved in tasks involving design engineering, product development, materials or component testing, or computational analysis. This position will support the Consumer, Medical, Industrial Design and Testing practice at Stress Engineering Services, Inc.

A successful candidate will be focused on producing quality work that has been reviewed and validated for accuracy before sharing results with others. It is also necessary for the candidate to be able to work independently, while being able to identify where and when more experienced guidance is needed. The position requires a person with a strong cooperative spirit and ability and willingness to participate in small teams.

Qualifications

  • Working toward an MS degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Engineering with specialization in robotics
  • Knowledge of fundamentals in engineering mechanics
  • Knowledge of robotics mechanisms and multibody dynamics
  • Knowledge of control system theory
  • Programming experience in Python
  • Knowledge of CAD software, preferable Solidworks
  • Knowledge of robotic simulation software such as ROS or similar
  • Hands on laboratory testing experience is preferred
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work in USA for any employer without sponsorship
  • Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds
