    Stress Engineering Services Inc. is the premier provider of engineered solutions and professional engineering consulting services across all engineering disciplines serving clients since 1972. Approximately 80% of current Stress Engineering Services business is repeat or direct referral. We take on some of the industries’ most difficult problems utilizing approximately 360 employees, including 215 engineers. We have some of the largest testing facilities in the industry.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop relationships with clients in order to build an independent successful consulting practice
    • Interface with clients, prepare technical proposals and reports, and work either individually and/or on a team
    • Participating in industry groups attending trade shows and conferences, and writing / presenting technical papers
    • Work as an engineering consultant to help with the following:
      • Grow a process engineering consulting practice
      • Assist the Engineering and Construction (E&C) practice in establishing the chemical engineering sub-group and providing direct project support to their clients
      • Grow the Plant Services Practice in the area of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and process simulation to provide client-actionable results
    • Assist client plant personnel in solving equipment reliability and on-stream availability issues in the following:
      • Process optimization and  troubleshooting
        • Fixed equipment analysis and fluid flow simulations
    • Assist the E&C practice by:
      • Providing process engineering support and analysis of E&C projects
      • Provide technical leadership in establishing the chemical engineering subgroup
      • Develop internal process analysis standards and protocol
      • Provide direct mentoring and oversight of subordinates
    • Directly assist clients in the development of process scopes

    Qualifications

    • Masters or Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from an accredited university is required (the advanced degree requirement can be waived if applicant has 20+ years of experience with a  chemical, refining or consulting company)
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills is required 
    • Demonstrated ability to work both on an individual basis and on project teams
    • Must have in-depth technical knowledge to facilitate the building of an independent consulting practice
    • Must have a working knowledge of chemical and refinery process design and associated equipment
    • Must have a working knowledge of the applicable equipment and design codes and standards
    • Experience at a major chemical company, oil company, or a consulting firm working with the same is preferred
    • A minimum of 10 years continuous employment as a practicing engineer is preferred
    • Must be a registered professional engineer (P.E.) or possess the ability to become registered
