    As a Sr. Mechanical Designer for SES’ Consumer Medical Industrial Design Testing team (CMIDT) he or she will:

    • Lead and execute all aspects of machine and system mechanical design as directed and needed
    • Organize and implement all aspects of good design practices from assemblies to detailing
    • Develop and implement new solutions to customer/client needs and business opportunities 

    This role will focus on all aspects of mechanical design and equipment/system delivery. The position will need to work closely with SES engineers and be able to coach real world application of technology along with mentoring less experienced associates.    


    A successful candidate will be focused on producing quality work that has been reviewed and validated for accuracy before sharing results with others. It is also necessary for the candidate to be able to work independently and in teams, while being able to identify where and when more experienced and expertise is needed. The position requires a person with a strong cooperative spirit and ability and willingness to help develop this market service.




    • New process and equipment/system development
    • Extensive machine design experience in automated servo/mechanical systems
    • Broad knowledge of commercially available components such as drive components, pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps, fasteners, 80-20, part handling and feeding
    • Experience working with multiple machine shop and assembly vendors
    • Thorough understanding of power and control needs and interface
    • Capable of working effectively with many different types of clients and in a broad spectrum of industries
    • Detailed knowledge of machine design, geometric tolerances, drawing packages; CAD model structure and presentation, design for manufacturing
    • Equipment startup and validation planning and support
    • Quoting and estimate scope of effort and tracking 


    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
    • Versed in several design software packages, SolidWorks is most important
    • Experience in design for and utilizing rapid prototyping
    • Packaging and material handling experience
    • FAT, PQ, OQ planning and execution
    • Working understanding of engineering methods and theory
    • ROI awareness and project justification
    • Continuous improvement processes, LEAN, 6-sigma, etc.
